13. Native American Basket and Stone Tools

Split ash wood & various stone. The Haverhill Historical Society merged with the Haverhill Archaeological Society in 1922 resulting in a spectacular collection of Merrimack Valley Native American objects. This selection of stone tools were excavated from along the banks of the Merrimack River by Frederick Luce, an amateur archaeologist from the 1910s-30s. The basket is Native American made, hand painted and stamped with a vegetable stamp.
